Dental Implants

A dental implant is considered to be the closest treatment option to replacing a missing tooth or teeth. There are two parts to a dental implant. The implant which is within the bone and is made of titanium metal and the crown which is what is seen in the mouth and used to bite. The implant is placed in the bone by making a small cut in the gum, creating a small hole in the bone and screwing the implant in the bone, the gum is closed over with some stitches and left for 8-12 weeks for the bone to fuse to the implant. Once fused, the implant is uncovered and then a crown is made by the lab which is placed on top of the implant.
